Signing Up

I am ready to get started. What do I do?
The first stage is to create an account. You can do this by clicking 'Join Globalpr' or 'Sign up' All you will need at this stage is an account name and an email address. Once the email address has been verified, you are ready to go.

How do I create a client profile?
Once you have completed the sign up process and have an account, you can create a client profile. If you go to the Dashboard section, there is a link 'New Client' select this and you will be directed to the client creation process. Once you have paid the required sign up charge via credit card, and accepted the terms and conditions, you are now ready to enter your company details in the correct fields.

How long does it take to sign up?
The simple process of creating an account will take around 2 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your email arrival, to create a client should take no more than 2-3 minutes. The length of time taken to complete the client profile will depend entirely on the amount of information you have to upload.

Is there a charge to set up my account?
To have an account on and to search the system, is completely free. To set up a corporate client profile, starts at £125 inc. VAT, which includes 10,000 PAYG credits. Personalisation of the site with your company logo and corporate colour scheme is optional and costs up to an extra £75 in VAT. (£25 per element)

Are there any hidden costs?
Once the set-up fee has been paid, this includes the first 10,000 click credits. When you are nearing a zero balance, you will be notified, and you can then choose to pay for more credits or leave your account suspended. Whilst suspended, your profile is visible, but none of the material will be accessible.

What do I need in order to log in?
Once the profile has been set up, all you will need is your personal login name and password.

Account Set Up & Maintenance

What information do I need in order to set up an account?
All you need for a basic account is a username and valid email address for verification.

What information do I need in order to create a client profile?
Select the profile name you want to be searched,(i.e. company, individual or organisation) contact information, a short description and a logo/profile pic, and of course credit card details. Your card details will not be stored, but will be entered through a secure third party merchandising application, and will need to be re-entered when topping up your account.

Can I choose my own Username and Password?
Username will be subject to availability, you may however choose your own password. It is recommended that to maximise security you have a password of 6 characters and above, and that it is alpha-numeric

Can I change my client profile name after setting up my account?
Yes

Can I change my Password after setting up my account?
If you are in possession of the old details, you can change your password at any time, in fact it is advisable to do this immediately should you believe for any reason the security of your site has been compromised.

Can anyone else see my account information?
If you are looked after by a PR agency with your permission to update the site in your stead, they will have access to your account information. globalpr.net administrators will also have access to your account. Credit card details are not stored on the site, and are not viewable by anyone.

How do I know my account has been successfully activated?
You will get a confirmation email upon successful activation of your account, and you will be able to start using your account straight away

How soon after my account is opened can I start uploading press releases?
Once your account has been opened and verified, payment successfully received, and the client profile created, you will be able to start uploading your past and current promotional material and associated collateral straight away.

I forgot my password, how can I retrieve it?
There is a 'forgotten password' function on the log-in area. This will activate a temporary password to be sent to the nominated email address, the user will then have 24 hours to activate the new password, after which it will become invalid. Once back inside your account, you can then reassign the password to something more memorable.

What's the difference between a Managing Account and an Associated Account?
A Managing account is the account through which the profiles are set up and paid for, an associated account is one that has requested, and been granted limited editorial rights. A managing account can remove these rights at any time.

Billing

How do I make a payment?
The site will contain a secure third party merchandising application, Sagepay, which accepts all major credit cards, and processes the payment in real-time.

When do I make a payment?
You will have to complete payment as part of the set-up of your account. With the initial payment you receive 10,000 credits on the PAYG system. Once you have reached a minimum number of credits, you will be notified by email that you should top up your account. You will then be redirected back to the same secure payment facility to make the payment.

Do you keep my payment details?
No credit card details are stored on the site or with the third party merchant.

Can I change my payment details?
As you re-enter your payment details each time, you are able to change the details provided at any time.

Security/Privacy

How do you ensure the security of my account information?
Our servers are encrypted using SSL (secure sockets layer) software. All passwords are double encrypted. Should you believe the security of your account has been compromised at any time, you should immediately alter your password to a more secure one.

Can anyone else see my account information?
Permitted representatives from your company, any PR agency you have registered to act on your behalf and the globalPR.net admin team will have access to your account, but not your credit card information.

Can anyone else upload a press release on my profile page?
Only individuals with your login details and account password, will be able to upload a press release onto your profile page.

What about protection of collateral?
You can restrict download access to any of your assets, by applying security settings.

Whom do I contact if I believe an unauthorised person has got into my profile page?
Should you believe you have had a breach in security, you should change your password immediately and contact globalpr.net.

Do you sell information to third parties?
globalpr.net complies with all requirements of the UK Data Protection Act 1998

Is there virus protection from downloading material ?
All assets will be uploaded and downloaded at users own risk, however globalpr.net recommends the use of a firewall and up to date virus checker to be installed and operated on any PC accessing the internet.

Uploading & Maintaining Data to Profile Page

How do I upload a press release?
When viewing your profile, you will see an 'Add' button at the top of the press release area. This will take you to a content item management page. Once you have entered all of the details of the release in the fields provided and clicked save, you will be able to add the press release content item, as well as adding or selecting a lead image from your gallery.

Does the press release go live immediately?
Once you have completed the upload procedure, your release will become live on your site.

What happens to the press release when it goes live?
The release becomes available on your profile page, and searchable using the search engine, any account holders who have subscribed to your profile will receive a notification that the release has been published and a link to the release itself.

What if I experience technical difficulties while I am uploading my press release?
The site is designed to be as simple to use as possible maximising time efficiency, however if you are having trouble and are unable to find the answers within the site, there is an email address for the globalpr.net team on the contact page.

Can I change the date of my press release?
Currently press releases will go live on upload, however we are aiming to develop a time delay feature in the future.

What is the best way of making changes to my press release after I have uploaded it?
The easiest way will be to delete the information file, (you can do this on the edit page for that item) and upload the amended document, ensuring that all information on your site is always the most up to date and accurate version. As the upload function is a browse and click system, this is a very simple process.

What if I want to make changes to the content of my press release?
As above, the easiest way of doing this is to delete the uploaded document and re-load the new amended version.

Can I include a photo with my press release?
By uploading a lead image or using one from your existing gallery, you can attach a photo to your press release

Is there a maximum size for images?
The maximum size for images is 50MB, which is large enough to handle very high resolution images, as necessary for creative agencies.

How can I view my uploaded press releases?
You can view the uploaded press releases from your release control panel, or from your profile.

Are there any word limitations for a press release?
A 100 word summary is taken for the description, the size limit for a press release document is 5MB.

How do I personalise my profile page.
When creating or editing your client profile page, you will be given the option to personalise your page, this involves uploading your own image for the top right hand side, and changing the livery of the page to fit with your corporate identity. Once you have paid the appropriate cost, you will be able to access these controls via your edit profile page. You may choose any individual element, or all three, each element costs £25.

How do I add a picture to my profile page?
The appearance of the profile page within the scope of your profile package is all controlled by accessing the 'edit profile page', allowing you to change and update your pictures.

Can I delete images and files from my profile page?
All files and images added to your profile are completely within your own control, and are able to be deleted at any time by anyone with the correct level of access by accessing the edit page of each item, the delete option is at the bottom.

Is there a limit to the number of press releases on a profile page?
The lozenges will expand to accommodate the items as they are added. Once a limit has been reached, a button will appear that will take the viewer through to the entire directory.

What formats do you accept for logos and images?
Images and logos will be acceptable in all common formats including .jpeg, bmp and png

Is there a minimum or maximum size for images and logos?
There will be no minimum size for logos or images, but we recommend that for your profile to maintain an appealing look and feel that only clear images and logos are used. The maximum file size for images and logos is 50MB.

How many images can I have in my library?
Images are sorted into collections, and there is no limit as to the number you may have on your profile library

Can I add hyperlinks to my press release?
Your press release may contain embedded hyperlinks, inserted and directionally attributed, within the document prior to upload and release.

Can I have a logo on a press release?
The document for your press release can contain embedded media such as logo's and images. Also there is the ability to add or assign a lead image from your library to a release.

How long will a press release stay on my profile page?
A press release will stay on your site for as long as you intend to leave it there. You can move it to past press items if the release becomes published or broadcast, to keep your profile current and up to date.

How do I connect my sister companies?
If you go to each of your profiles and select the connect button, you will be given a request email asking for the connection, you then select accept. When you enter that account edit profile page it will have a selection of companies that have accepted your connection request, you can then choose whether or not to have them feature on your profile page.

Credits

How will I know if my credits are used up?
You will be contacted by the system to notify you, once your balance goes below a certain threshold, and again when all of your credits have been used, you will also be able to keep track of them on your dashboard.

What do you charge per credit?
Your original 10,000 credits will be included within your set-up fee. £125 inc. VAT, the cost per click decreases as you increase the amount you are topping up. Foreign currencies are accepted, all amounts are in pounds sterling.

What if I want to buy more credits?
You will be able to buy more credits at any time, for example if you are running low and have a major release imminent.

How do I pay for credits?
There will be a link on the site that allows you to top up your credit by re-entering your credit card details at the secure third party site, and purchasing further credits.

If you click on the Contact menu item in the footer of the page, you will be taken to the details you can use to contact globalpr.net

What are the times I can contact globalpr.net?
globalpr.net will maintain regular office hours 9am - 6pm in London GMT, if you have a query outside of these times, please contact us via email, and we will respond to you the next working day.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my membership?
In accordance with distance selling laws, if you cancel your membership within 7 working days, you will be entitled to a full refund of all monies paid. Please contact the GlobalPR Network team to arrange this.
